Our Safety Standard
Safety is the foundation of every Lights Fest. We work with outside wildfire-control professionals who build a custom fire action plan for each region, and we choose the lantern style for every event based on the venue and the weather.

Our events run in two seasons, spring and fall. Current dates are always listed in the events section above. Events sell out, so joining your city’s early list is the best way to get first access to tickets.
Tickets are sold through each city’s event page. Pricing is tiered: VIP registration opens first for people on the early list, followed by Early Bird and then standard pricing, so earlier purchases cost less. Each adult ticket includes entry, a lantern, and a marker to decorate with.
Our lanterns are custom-designed and 100% biodegradable, made of rice paper, bamboo, and string, with no metal wire. The flame burns out before the lantern comes down, a professional fire crew waits in the landing zone, and our cleanup team collects lanterns within 24 hours.
At a sky lantern festival, lanterns rise into the night sky. At a water lantern festival, lanterns float on a lake or river. We offer both events so check out our events list to see the next event near you.
Anything that matters to you. Many guests write goals for the year ahead, a message to a loved one they’ve lost, or something they’re ready to let go of. Some families write one lantern together. The sky’s the limit.
If weather cancels a Friday or Saturday event, we move it to that Sunday when possible. Otherwise we reschedule, or sometimes relocate, within 90 days, and your ticket is valid for the new date. Refunds aren’t offered for weather reschedules unless we can’t set a new date within 90 days, or you purchased Refund Protection.
